October 22, 2010: Icyeyes for Halloween

October 22, 2010

Here’s a fun Halloween idea: eyeballs in ice cubes for your guest’s drinks!

An idea I got from my funny, imaginative sister Kathy. I never did find out how she did hers, but here’s what I came up with:

Take a small radish, wash, and square off each end. With a grommet punch, insert into one end of center of the the white part of radish, about one-half inch. With a sharp, pointed knife, scoop out the cut center of radish. Insert a small olive and freeze in a water in an ice cube tray. Once frozen, insert eyeball-ice cube in your favorite drink.

Kathy gave me a follow-up message that the idea was originally a Martha Stewart concept and she said I did fine, but she reverse-carved the red of the radish to mimic red veins…even better!

Happy Halloween Everyone!
